Hee, I actually used photo references for this one which is why it's so much better than the my first submission featuring her. Though Willow is a fairly horse-like unicorn, she does have cloven hooves. Her tail stands upright naturally when relaxed, unlike a horse's.** The bone and muscle structure inside of it are different. The spots on her rump and shoulder are ben d'or markings, the number and position of which have yet to stabilize. Right now, I just draw 'em where they look best. The wings she sports here are more correct than my first drawing; the first was really just me goofing around after coming off a long lay-up artwise, and not my best effort.
**What's pretty in fantasy is ugly when forced in reality. When you see a horse whose tail is stuck up like that permanently in real life, it's achieved through cruel means, such as gingering, tail setting devices, and "cosmetic" surgeries that involve cutting nerves and/or breaking bones. It's right up there with ear and tail docking in my book. Feel free to give anyone you see engaging in that sort of thing a road apple facial. >:D
Color to come later; my obligations to Theo and Kerry take precidence.
