Yeah. My laptop deleted Windows. I don't know how. It wasn't launching properly, and I tried launching a startup repair, but my computer decided to nope. I don't think it deleted my disk files. Just windows. But... WTF happened? WHY? o.o

Either your BIOS is no longer selecting your hard drive as primary boot device, or your hard drive completely gave out.
1)Put your ear in the surface of the laptop away from the fan, if you can hear some noise (usually a NNNNNNN) kinda noise your hard drive is working. and all you need is to change a BIOS setting
2)if you can hear the NNNNN noise, but ticking when you first turn on the laptop, the heads that read/write on the hard drive are no longer working.
3)If you dont hear any noise at all, it means that your hard drive's motor failed.
you can still get your data back if either 2 or 3 happened, but it's quite costly.... maybe it still has warranty?
Hope I helped. If you need any extra help, just PM me!

If the tinkling noise was quick and high pitched, that would be normal hard drive noise. If it was loud and low piched it might be the heads hitting the wall of the hard drive.
the last think you can do about it is directly check it on the BIOS. Can you give me more info on your laptop?

This happened to me once after dealing with some primitive "DVD Security" options, specifically on Buffy Season 1 DVD's, seems it damaged the CD drive and I had to remove it from the boot-up list. I would try some different boot list options meybey. ): Hope you whip it back into shape!
Maybe you just accidentally deleted the MBR partition. Using the startup repair is pretty well known for messing up the MBR

Either way, my laptop is useless. I busted a few more keys, which wouldn't be a problem if one of them wasn't the backspace key. My audio jack has been broken. My laptop overheats. Its battery life is measly and disgustingly short. It'll freeze up on me. It hates me. In the same method I can talk to Pierre, I can talk to my laptop. It's absolutely terrified of me.
Hiren's boot CD. I had the same problem one day.
I had windows 7 OS laying around in my old computer, so I copied it and booted up my broken laptop with it, from BIOS setting. Only to know that weird things started to happen because of many things I had done in the past.
So I used Hiren's Boot CD to load up the computer and use mini XP. I transferred all the data in to my external hard drive. and formatted the old dog gone hard drive on my laptop. Now I have a fine Laptop with me.
