Hrm, It's tough. It's way softer than plasticine, so you have to have a steadier hand. I'm still learning how to teeter between "too wet" and "oh crap it's starting to dry out *spritz spritz*". Since WED clay firms up as it dries, you have to let it tell you what level of detail you can carve out. There may be a point when it's so dry that it's as firm as plasticine, but I've been too scared to let my sculpture get to that point...
Banging out the basic shape was so so so so fun and satisfying that I'm not regretting using WED clay at all, but next time I'm making something scaly (and I have the cash to drop on it) I'll use NSP or Monster Clay. If I need to make a resin blank that will be covered in fur anyway, I'm using WED clay, no question.
