Well, I seem to make more progress on this long-delayed comic installment when I don't talk about it. There's not much more going into this panel--it'll probably remain mostly flatshaded, since at its final size (a little less than half the size of this on the actual page) the fine details won't be visible.
Rather than have my characters alone on a deserted street, I added a few random one-offs inspired by other folks' characters I've drawn before. No direct references are intended at this point, as they are extremely loose interpretations, though in the future, I'd like to include some of the better known characters out there as extras in non-speaking parts.
Due to the miniscule size of the figures in this panel, I had to draw them OpenCanvas style, over digital scribbles made on a transparent layer. For the lack of detail on them, they came out fairly decently without a huge investment in time (thanks to my well-worn Grafire), but I need to move on--three more pages to go, then cel-shading and dialogue, and one installment closer to, um...something with red borders on it.
In the meantime, peek at the Commission Information tab on my main page here for updates every so often. Progress on my projects is noted there instead of posting journals, cause you folks get enough of those as it is.
