So this happened at my house. Well, it's only my house in that I'm still paying rent. I'd moved out just a few weeks ago because my housemate was a malevolent sociopath. I feel bad for the other two who still live there. Him? Not so much.

Everyone's fine and none of us are losing any money since the landlord is the one who supplied a bad fridge. Poor landlord.
