Earrings from Rukis "Red Lantern" WIP
This is the larger fursuit size, the opening is a bit over 1/4in and I plan to use a metric 2mm screw to fasten to the ear. I'm not worried about an allergic reaction to the nickel in the stainless steel in a fursuit ear ;)
If not for fursuit bowling tomorrow I would do the other side.
Milled out of a 3/8 Aluminum plate. I surface off an area to 9mm thickenss (from 9.525mm) the earrings themselves are 6.75mm thick, centered in the plate. This give me a nice flat area and accounts for the variances in plate thickness. Next step is to cut out the block, flip it over and mill the bottom. side.

Die cast would probably be a bit heavy, and I could easily set up to do a batch of 10 or so at a time on my cnc machine. I would be surprised if these sold more than 100 or so a year. Most of the work is in the polishing, and I would bet most of the cost will be the gold plating. Also I have yet to do any metal casting and given how little time I have, would rather not go through the learning curve for now.
