Cats are not pack animals like dogs, but they still develop attachment to humans. When the elderly couple next door had to move to a place that don't accept pets, Kira had to stay behind.

We watch her, but the old man came every day to visit her and bring her food. He is in the hospital now and can't come. We give Kira food and water and take care of her... but she still waits for the old man every day. She sits on the driveway and looks at the passing cars for hours.

Kira is 16 years old. She was found by my wife as a kitten but adopted by the couple.

On a lighter note, our new adoptee Darth Cyrus loves apple pie.
