i was watching 'blue exorcist' and had an idea for a story, (it dont happen often buyt it does) and figured i would blend in as few other spiritual themed thrillers and throw in some stuff of my own, i then sat down and wrote what you see here in just a few minutes, figuring i would test it (kindof like a preview) and see if people liked it brefore i went further and ivested more time in this.

On this night life was no different than any other night. For most people life consisted of nothing more than walking to the next address listed on their schedules, mindlessly going about following the directions given them by their phones. little did they know of the war going on behind them, in the shadows, and on the rooftops above them. It was for the best though, the balance of this fight depended the very means of existence these masses knew. This war was fought by a select group individuals ancient bloodlines spanning centuries and even millenia, an ever dwindling group of crusaders containing a set of gifts. these individuals call themselves martyrs. on the other side of this fight was the forces of a realm known to this world as hell in truth, it is far more evil. For the martyrs, a set of rules exist, they aren't allowed to share the nature of their order, they are not permitted to marry, and above all they must not procreate. as such new martyrs very rarely come up, in fact, the last one to appear happened five hundred years ago. On this night Elias Stafford walked around the streets of London seeing the people looking just as they did any other night faces turned down watching their phones and the concrete dissapearing from view as they walked, elias wasn't watching just them though, he was looking at a massive figure at the end of the street standing at nearly twelve feet tall it's skin having haphazard stitching working across it giving the creature a patchwork appearance even from this distance, Elias knew ,though that he was the only one on this street who could see the creature, he contained a gift uncommon even among the martyrs, known as sight of the ancients, he cut his way through the crowd of people, bumping into a particularly tall stinter who looked like a german shepard, he paused a moment and considered him, a stinter was a person with surgical augmentations giving them the look of animals, they were rather commonplace nowadays, martyrs were forbidden from having these surgeries. they felt it was unholy to alter a creation of god in such a way. Elias shook his head slightly and continued moving towards the beast at the corner, now moving along a row of shops on a cross street, Elias was about to close in and take the woman off to one side when he noticed a stinter who looked ...out pf place. While most everyone was shuffling about normally, he was standing still flattened almost against a building looking up with an expression of, what , knowledge? he considered this for a moment and then realised where the stinter was looking, right at the soldier demon Elias had been pursuing, he considered for a moment what to do, he quickly keyed his radio twice giving any martyr in the area the signal to come after this demon. Then he crossed the street and casually came up next to the stinter, asking very nonchalantly,"rather warm tonight wouldn't you say?" . The stinter didn't even aknowledge he had been spoken to, he instead continued to stare at the sodier demon and nodded as he walked across the street, closing distance with it, Elias was puzzled at this, sure that this stinter somehow had the sight of ancients. he followed cautiosly not wanting to alert him. He briefly considered that the stinter might be possesed but then he remembered that if that were the case he'd be able to see the entity but something definitely wasn't normal here, for one, how did this unholy being who had marred his body in such a way, have one of the most holy gifts given to a society hardly anyone knew of?
lovelace walked through london his ears rotating to pick up sounds and his eyes very well adjusted to the dark. he considered the people surrounding him looking from stinters to humans each in their own regard, he rather appreciated stinters, they allowed him to, for the first time in centuries, walk about without need of magic to disguise his true form, he stretched the large semi draconic wings at his back and cracked his neck before he noticed a soldier demon making it's way down the street towards him, he paused and casually made his way across the street, observing the thing for a time running through a mental checklist of the items currently on his person, that he could use to take this thing down, he was just finishing the list and had picked a rather nasty if effective combo to use when a man with an old crucifix, wearing jeans and a denim jacket, seriously who wore those anymore?, came up beside him and said something stupid like 'rather warm tonight isn't it' it was fall in london, it was never warm, though he just took it as an insult to the fact lovelace looked part husky. christians didn't usually get along with lovelace, which suited him just fine he didn't like most anybody who believed in a vengful old man in the sky making empty threats. He ignored the man and simply took off after the demon when he saw it tuck into an alley. his ears picked up the sound of the mans boots hitting the ground behind him, lovelace didn't like being followed, since it usually meant a fight, he quickly ducked off into an alley, cursing the fact that he was letting the demon get away and drew his recue knife, he didn't deploy the blade though, instead he planned on simply knocking whoever it was out with the glassbreaker spike at the pommel, he waited a moment and mr. blue jeans rounded the corner as lovelace swung. things slowed down slightly as the adrenaline struck him the same couldn't be said of lovelace's swing as elias had ducked away from the knife, moving fast even for lovelaces standards he quickly snapped the knife from lovelace's hand then doubled over in pain as he felt a knee connect with his stomach he recovered fast enough, though to bring a solid uppercut to lovelace's torso at least it would've been a solid hit, if lovelace hadn't swung around to put elias in a headlock, he screamed slightly as he felt his arm over extend and tear some of the connective tissue it was useless in this fight now and they both knew it, lovelace quickly got the man into a half nelson hold and asked angrily, " why'd you follow me?!"...
