Among the 20 or so piccies I used as models for this'n, (most of which were my older Shakethsin piccies and photos of mantids), several were Thri-Kreen ... where I think some of the coloration and primary limb shape came from.

Wings are pure mantid, though I omitted the patterning of the particular species I used as it was rather noisily patterned, and incredibly artificial looking.

This is very cool. I like it. The pose makes the character look a bit defiant or victorious over something.

:D Thankies - yeah, groovin' on the background - trying to get 'paintlike' effects out of photoshop's still difficult for me - (mostly lots of smudge tool - then roasting parts of it with the Burn tool like a marshmallow)
