But think about it... some meerkat found it, and a feral one at that... what would a meerkat do with a time machine? Other than go back to the Primordial Soup and shed some fur into the bog which would cause Meerkat DNA to mix with everything resulting in alterations of the evolutionary chain that will in turn make it so that people evolve into Meerkat-People instead of humans.
