like i said before, copics are made of some serious win. this is more or less to get a general feel on how the hell to use these fuckers, though in time i'll get close enough to mastering them. won't be for a while, but they're still fun as all hell! if anyone has any tips on how to use copics properly, please let me know X3

use them like paint, babe. plan out your base colors, your shadow colors, etc. dont be afraid to lay multiple colors down on top of one another. copics may bleed a little on the wrong kind of paper, though, so be careful!
i always keep a sheet of scratch paper next to me when i'm working on something, to test out the colors. i 'd also make a set of swatches so you dont fall into the "color is the same as the label" trap like i did.
paint, eh? excellent.
yeah, i noticed that the colour tends to lighten up a little bit when you let it dry. i've taken over half of a page in the sketchbook to little swatches of the markers i've used thus far. it's a learning process, but i wanna use 'em MOAR.
also, shitajikis (those little hard plastic 8"x10" sheets to stick under a paper while drawing) are a lifesaver. i'll get
chestnuts to send you one, he has like a thousand of them.
thanks for the advice! come back out this way more often plz :D :D :D

i've tried using the prismacolor as well and i found them to be pretty heavy and unwieldy unless one has super nerd power skill to take advantage of that. these ones, however, drop lines so smoothly and the blending capabilities are chou-mega-awesome. 'course these markers are Japanese, so it's a requirement to include a 3000% mark-up. X3
make more with the arts! i've always admired your style and talent, is quite fuckin' excellent.

each brand of marker has a different way the ink applies to the paper. some just lay on colour way too thick and slathery, others have a water-colour like quality to them that makes blending so much easier. people have preferences to what kind of medium best fits their respective styles, pretty much like figuring out the kind of paint you would choose for the style you draw and colour in (water-colour, acrylic, gouach, tempera, etc.). if you do decide to venture into a different medium, you gotta try a whole crapload of them out before something(s) best fit to you.
and hey, it's the time of year (at least where i'm at) where sandals are more common, so much yay indeed. :D

Aha! Which is why I can't tell what's so cool about copics. Because I haven't tried enough kinds and brands yet! 8O All the markers I've tried always saturation bomb with color. No really, you see the little mushroom clouds come up off the paper...
