Sal Thorpe is a seasoned traveler across the lands of the Pokemon World. A bit of an audiophile, Sal tends to be soft-spoken around others - until it comes to Pokemon battles, where she can get pretty vocal. Her first Pokemon ever was a Bulbasaur named Flower, who is now a Venusaur.

She has no delusions of grandeur and no desire for the sort of fame that comes from besting the Pokemon Champion of a particular region. Instead she focuses on collecting Gym Badges - currently possessing all eight from Johto, Kanto, Hoenn and Sinnoh. She had collected all of the ones in Unova before the Gym Restructuring, and she's partway done with her Kalos collection.

Each new region she visits, she accrues a new set of traveling companions, with one exception: Flower followed her for a long time, but eventually the aging Venusaur became too old to fight and travel. In her stead is Flower's daughter, a young Bulbasaur named Seedling. Her old teams, and whichever other Pokemon she's captured, stay on an expansive farmland owned by her parents in the Kanto region, near Cerulean City.
