(I think that's the correct term, anyway. If not: hexaptych)
I wanted to do my take on some of the stages from an old favourite, though some ended up looking very much the same. I didn't include the Scrap Brain variants or the Final Zone because ERROR 502 YOUR COMMENT COULD NOT BE FINISHED on the sega europe server

That should flash across the screen whenever this happens: http://i.imgur.com/vjBuJMI.jpg
I'm tempted to say that once is probably enough. :V
I don't remember ever beating it legitimately, least not with all the emeralds. The last few special stages were too tricky. I often used the level select cheat to go straight to the Starlight Zone as that was my favourite (and by then, it's too late to get all the emeralds anyway, I believe).

Essentially, it's a rectangular, dry brush with grainy edges. I'm not sure exactly how to make one, but I used a pre-defined 48px one which comes with Photoshop 7. I imagine there would be a similar brush with other image editing programs.
(As far as I know, PS brushes can be loaded into GIMP)

Thank you. <3 These are always a pleasure to do. I just hope that the style doesn't get too repetitive, because I /really/ like that one particular brush I use to make these with, with the texture it gives.
(Apologies, that hidden comment was mine - it came out blank for some reason.)

By all means! I was planning to do that myself with a couple of them.
If it's any easier, they can all be found as individual files here: http://greenendorf.tumblr.com/post/82416222407

Thank you. =]
To be specific, it's this dry brush from Photoshop: http://i.imgur.com/XGfnqYN.png
There are a few brushes which look the same, but the 48px one has nice, sandy edges. I'm not sure which program you prefer, but it might be possible to create a similar one, or import that one from Photoshop.
