It's almost... got a texture-ish feel to it. Like as if it were done with a pen or something. Do you use the "lock transparent pixels" setting to color your lines, or do you color your lines manually?

by the looks of it, he colored straight from a scan and some of the white is showing from the contrast. the he used the magic wand too to select areas and color them. I tried this, but usually i have to do a lot of cleaning, so it takes forever

As Jerberjer theorized, I did indeed color a scanned drawing. I did my color lines manually by blocking the lines off with a 1-pixel pencil and then filling them in.
