A hungry animal is more likely to focus on it's meal than any potential dangers. When that danger is 3 stories high and made of magic, however, it's a bit harder.
Note: Jax is in the room below theirs, not just on some weird bunk-bed setup. Devourers, like most demons, can freely pass through many material objects, but if their attention is divided (i.e. they're scared) they can forget to leave the floor solid enough to stand on and end up falling through.
