So the initial Federation tutorial mission in Star Trek Online is a fairly eventful one. You're a cadet fresh out of Starfleet Academy, assigned to an old Miranda-class starship, only for a distress call from a stricken Ferengi freighter to lead to your captain being killed by the CO of a cloaked Klingon warship, leaving you in command as your ship continues on to a planet that soon gets invaded by a Borg fleet and assimilated right under you as you help evacuate what civilians you can. Never let it be said that Starfleet is a dull career.
By the way, I'm sorry for the awfully-rendered Borg cube. Greebling on that scale is way beyond my artistic skills... and please forgive the similarly shittily-drawn Miranda. The USS Durendal is a bit more impressive in the game, naturally.

I suspect that's only because Borg ships are so distinctive. Who else tools around in a giant featureless cube made of paperclips and sprue?

pfff amen to that. trust me. ive gone threw the special task force missions when you get to level 45/50. borgafied Romulan Scimitar-class Dreadnought. complete with shotgun death cannon. that was a fun fight.
space vs the borg is...stratiforwardish. ground missions on the hand. now that's a whole different kettle of fish. heheh ah alot of fun await ya so have a good time. if you need a hand id be happy to assist. ive been spending too much time with my KDF char anyway. both my captains are cats XD because....cats

I've always wondered why the Federation never developed anything like that. I mean... it seems like all the technological prerequisites are there. But then, world busting superweapons would kind of take the Star Trek out of Star Trek and turn it into a sci-fi cold war thriller sort of universe. Oh well.

That, and the Federation don't really go in for superweapons. Although with enough technobabble, they did manage to rig up an anti-Borg cannon with the navigational deflector... but unfortunately, because Picard had been assimilated between the weapon's conception and its firing, it did absolutely nothing. Whoops!
