Another landscape from my digital landscape class! This was actually the first one I ever did lol. There's some problem areas, but overall it was a pretty satisfying first attempt!

Ahaha yeah, i got lucky i think, and i also got a lot of help from the teacher that made a big difference. (Such as my shadows being waaaay too dark before)
As for brush settings, i just played with a lot of the textured brushes in photoshop (like the dry media and faux finish brushes) and adjusted their opacity, flow and tip shape. and now im using a lot of brushes from this set I bought:https://gumroad.com/l/HKgA.
I really dig the oil brushes and goauche brushes, as well as the brush pen ones! And theres a lot of nice texture brushes in there that make really nice analog-looking marks.

Aw man i feel you, this is the first time I've ever had teachers but what ive learned is that working traditionally and keeping that in mind helps when figuring out digital painting. I also kind of hated photoshop for awhile because sai is just so much fun (and the strokes are so much smoother!!!) but i do think the sheer customizability of photoshops brushes gives it an edge. Sais still really awesome tho id still be using it if it WORKED ON MAC

Actually, you can port photoshop bushes to sai to some extent. Too lazy right now though.

I guess?? I mean I think digital painting is something thats only recently being incorporated into curriculums, and often as a later class or elective.

and agreed, I just really wanted the nice big screen lol. I also enjoy cloud-sharing my notes and pictures from my iphone and stuff, that's come in handy! but the lack of compatibility blows
