So since I have a bad habit of not really letting you guys know what I'm up to, here it is. A small piece of it anyways.
I'm working on my hack of Firered, Nightmare Version
This is the design for the male trainer, and an actual sreenshot from the game of him in the intro scene (I changed his color scheme a bit cuz he looked like a chimecho gijinka)
PLOT: On the night of a new moon, you were tricked by a newfound friend (who ends up being your rival) to avoid the place where Darkrai was preparing to plunge the world into a nightmare, a place where originally, you would have battled and stopped him. Darkrai having succeeded, you find yourself in the same world, but darker, full of fear and horrifically strong pokemon. Your only guidance being Cresselia and her moonlit flowers.
Oddly enough, you do not live through the path of your own life...but that of a hero in red that you saw on TV. Waking up in a Sanctuary that used to be Pallet Town, you are stopped by a priestess while trying to get out. She tells you to follow her, and gives you the choice of the Starters Absol, Heracross, and Chimecho.
Upon leaving to the next town to retrieve a box of talismans for her, she reveals that, in the waking world, she is a little girl. She merely personified herself as a priestess to feel a sense of power and courage within the nightmare. She proposes an idea. To explore the world and complete a diary recording every pokemon in existence. Her dream as long as she can remember is to know about every pokemon in the world, and she believes that accomplishing the near unrealistic dream of a little girl may be enough to break the nightmare. Your rival, also given a diary (through threat and intimidation briefly mentioned), seeks to complete the diary before you, thus being able to withhold the power released the moment her dream is fulfilled.
You explore a world where Hypno have become terrifying beasts, the water stares back at you, and every person and pokemon you meet is just like you...looking for a way out.
