It's true their date is sort of played as a joke but I interpreted it as being a very awkward date, as if they weren't sure how a date with another guy is supposed to go XD There's also a point when Cloud is dressed as a woman where you can tell Don Cornero that Barett is your boyfriend, I'll take that as a confession of love XD
