A Soldier Beetle Soldier with a Shield Bug Shield.

Soldier from the relatively mild mountain ranges of Tessiel, where there's a fair amount of rainfall on the sides facing away from the interior. The shield is only a 'shield bug' stylistically, being made from beaten metal and lacquered dense leather.

Relatively happy with it, despite the static pose, and my first real attempt at any kinda armor more complicated than a breastplate and bracers.

Character done in one layer, taking me back to my highschool and college oil painting style. Must say, I learn to not worry so much about messing up when there's only one layer for some reason. True, you can step back through history a few steps, but when I'm on a roll, there's a LOT more steps by the time I realize I want to back up, usually, than I allow in my history buffer.
