Thaaaaaanks Inuchan !!! ^^ ^^ ^^
LOOOL Yes, I tried to imagine what would the nuptial night look like also.......
Anyway, if the Lord of Darkness got the beauty of the devil, Molasar is only brute force, pure evil who doesn't give a damn about love and romantism. He just makes shadows darker around him and sucks the life out of anybody who is around, feeding on the negative pulsions. If you want stills of the film, I posted a link to a site dedicated to him in my previous Molasar pic, the one where he defeats Mum-Ra : http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1197396/

Legend is full of those unforgetable quotes.
"SIT !!!!!!! Or... Stand, as you wish."
"You are an animal ! - We are all animals, my Lady."
"dreams of the youth are the regrets of the maturity"
"what have we got here ? A little booooy"
"don't you know me, booooy ?"
And so on :) :) :)

I downloaded a widescreen version of it off of Vuze which is where the comparatively excellent screencap of Molasar came from. I think this print was ripped from the Laserdisc. I assume, though, those are bootlegs on eBay unless Paramount finally decided to quit dicking around? Not that I mind really. It's also difficult finding a lot of the music used in it, although I happily own an mp3 of the main title theme at least.
No no, this is the real, official DVD. But short version, and there is no bonus. Too bad, just looked myself and indeed, there is no more for the moment... :( But it should come back. All those people are selling their tape probably because of that DVD, you know?!
I was about to buy one myself but finally didn't, as I am waiting an hypothetical uncut version somebody is preparing since many, many years... (see http://www.the-keep.ath.cx/ )
As for the original soundtrack, it has never been commercialized (only a couple of tracks, sometimes remixed), BUT!!! I've learnt that a... "group" specialized in unedited music films of Tangerine Dreams released for free on the net (no commercial purpose) the whole OST, the REAL one, and in audio CD format, not mp3!! It was hard to find it because the original source has been closed since some assholes decided to make profit of it, but I finally did as a torrent, and it is certainly still possible to get it (and it is legal as the CD does NOT exist) - try to find it with those search words:
Tangerine Tree Volume 54: The Keep

Dude, what the hell! I've wondered what film this Molasar guy was from for YEARS and could never find out, and of course I didn't even know his name until now. All I had was a foggy memory of a short clip from the movie where he picks up that one guy and kills him, right after he asks "Who are you?" to which the monster answers, "I am...what you made me!" Of course, I realize now after finding the scene on YT that I misremembered the conversation a bit, and weeeell, that's to be expected after having seen it so many years ago, lol. I'll tell you another thing: I had myself convinced that this was a European movie, maybe Italian or British since they produced a lot of horror films, but it turns out I was wrong about that too! Now you can see why I could never find this movie, since all my guesses were wrong and I had no place to even start a search, except for one scene where I remembered the quote wrong!
In short, I can't believe I finally discover the name of this mystery-movie on a furry website, and by complete accident

Ha ha ha ha ha, that's the magic of life, you get an explanation about something in a place and time you'd never have imagined happen.........
Ah yes, that very memorable quote... I first knew The Keep by the original book written by F. Paul Wilson, that I read something like, what, probably more than 35 yeats ago? As you may have heard, the film by Michael Mann is unfortunately one of those cursed movies where everything went wrong on set, including the premature death of special effect director who made a fantastic reborn Molasar that had to be completely reshoot because he only made some test footages with it, and died without revealing the secrets of its creation.... Many things are different compared to the book, and there are especially many hints of something a lot, lot bigger going on historically speaking, that can only be fully captured by reading the book. Unfortunately the film was butchered without Michael Mann's agreement leaving some important parts at best unnoticed, at worse completely incomprehensible.
If I find the movie version of Molasar appearance fundamentally superior to the one that appears in the book, there is something from him in the book I'll always regret, it's his ability to litterally absorb light. Molasar's arrival is always anounced by the fact light bulbs are fainting until total black out the ones after the others, closer and closer to the future victim - the bulbs are still emitting, but the light itself is "dying" while shadows are litterally growing thicker. Then lights are coming back to life again after his departure. A great graphical effect to imagine as a movie sequence...

huh, that's a fascinating tidbit about the special effects director. I guess he didn't leave any notes behind? It sure sounds like a lot went wrong with this film! If there gets to be too many problems on the set, there's a danger of a movie's troubled production becoming an even more interesting story than the screenplay itself, lol :v
The fading light gimmick you mentioned sounds like it'd be easy to pull off, I wonder why they didn't include it? Well, I guess there's no such thing as a perfect film adaptation, eh? I know oftentimes they end up cutting a lot of footage out in order to edit the movie to fit into a tidy 90-minute runtime, so maybe the scene existed but was seen as expendable? It does sound like it would've been a good "oh shit" moment for the audience, especially the 2nd time around after they learn what's about to happen!

Ha ha, yes, and indeed, there are a few sites dedicated to this film, and you can tell the amount of behind the scene stories certainly can make a trilogy of its own!!! To the point that Michael Mann refused for a long time to talk about it and even aknowledge it in his filmography. As far as I know, there is still no official soundtrack of it (but LOTS of fan-made bootlegs), nor has it been edited in DVD...
And yes, the special effects director carried his secrets with him to his grave, he never put down anything on paper.
The fading light certainly is an easy but excellent "oh shit" moment as you say, and it wouldn't have disrupted or interfered with Michael Mann's own style. Yes, it's possible it was there originally - three alternate endings have been miraculously saved, but as for the rest that has been cut (Mann's original footage must have been around twice as long as the final product), it's believed to be lost...

It definitely sounds like this film had a terribly interesting development! I do think having 3 alternate endings sounds a little excessive for a story already based on a book, but I assume he had his reasons. Ah, I miss the days when movie-making had a certain mystique about it, and not like today when it feels like movies are thrown together on an assembly line!
There are two main endings, a rare long one that follows what happens in the book, and a shortened one that is extremely hopeless. Both are logical but quite opposite. I think it's the long one that bears two versions that differs only from minor details. It's a lot reminiscent of Blade Runner that is also gifted of at least three ending that completely changes the tone of the whole film!
You know what? It's been years I haven't been to a theater, the last movie I saw there was Sonic2, which was quite entertaining, but since then I had really very few titles I had the slightest care to watch. That will change this weekend however since I'm going to attend Hokusai~
