I wanted a new desktop for spring.
Totally not because I just wanted to draw more J’Virr. Totally.
Something that really bugs me about Elder Scrolls games is that, despite there being 17 different distinctive looking khajiit breeds (from basically elf with a tail to tiny man-cat and from ordinary house cat to house-sized cat), there is only ever one in-game. The breeds are determined by the moon upon birth. Khajiit caravans should be filled with an array of cat people, not just the one kind.

when they announced TESO i was so excited that they might finally implement moon-phase khajiit birth since it would help distinguish players somewhat. i mean i knew it was unrealistic but i still got my hopes up dammit
hell, id even settle for seeing just one other than cathay or suthay-raht but i doubt thatll happen either >:( maybe some day therell be a big enough market for a game actually set in elsweyr, i dont think theyd have any excuse then.

I've been baffled as to why there HASN'T been a game set in Elsweyr or Blackmarsh yet. Outside of Morrowind, which is specifically described as alien, they seem like some of the most interesting places to build and explore (because let's face it, generic-temperate-forest Cyrodill is just not an enthralling environment).
nobody wants to play a game where the dominate race is animal people is my guess :( even if the landscape would be amazing. especially in the case of elsweyr because khajiit seem sooo much to just get reduced to furry bait and the 'noob race'. it fucking sucks because i feel like khajiit and argonians have some of the most interesting racial history too
i dont feel like theyre likely to set more than one game in the same region though so hopefully if they continue the series we might see elsweyr or black marsh eventually. thats what im telling myself anyway XD

My theory is that places like Cyrodiil and Skyrim are just whitebread and palatable enough to appeal to the largest possible market. Similar is the increasingly watered-down stories and factions, and how increasingly casual the series has become; they just want money from as many people as possible. I can't really blame them for that, but dammit, it makes for boring decisions.
Pretty much the same here. Surely just a few more years before they break down and move southward, surely.
Also, if you haven't heard of Night in the Woods, it's HIGHLY funded kickstarter game that focuses around animal characters. :>

I was actually worried about this with the advent of ESO, but there's SO MUCH delicious lore in the game. I found some books that really explore khajiit culture/religion in depths not previously visited. Pretty cool!
You get to see Senche tigers and some of the housecats are implied to be khajiit as well.
What I really wish is that they would come out with some official artwork of what the different khajiit forms look like. Current info is left pretty vague as to appearance. Perhaps done on purpose, as they've used it to explain the changes in design from one game to the next.
I do agree with why we've seen such vanilla primary settings though. They have to appeal to the widest possible audience. At least in ESO you visit or at least catch glimpses of other homelands.

That's pretty encouraging! Although someone just mentioned to me that the Senche tigers are implied to not be the actual Khajiit breed, just animals? (I have no idea, the wiki speaks of them like they're not khajiit, too. Perhaps they just happen to share the name?)
I'm tempted to just doodle out some concepts for the other breeds myself for shits and giggles. It's kind of annoying to just read "Dagi are a breed, we have no idea what they're like!"

The senche tigers aren't explicitely stated to be khajiit in ESO, but it's clear that the Khajiit NPCs have actual conversations with the ones you meet in-game, same with a housecat if I recall.

Though, according to their description, senche are hyuge, so maybe the senche tigers are something else. They look like normal tigers.
