That's that whole inverse square thing too. Something as huge as a dragon would have to cause a total eclipse if its wings were big enough to carry it - my excuse if that dragons are inherently magical.

Dragons don't fly, they move the planet around through telekinesis.

It's a really strenuous activity, so they have to flap their wings to keep themselves from overheating.

That's why my dragons are all teeny-tiny. That way they can actually fly without using magic or hydrogen sacks to 'explain' it away :p
