Also, anyone know where the term piggy back ride originated from?

The term "piggy-back" originates from Native American culture. The Native Americans would carry their wounded after any form of conflct on their backs, much like the piggy-backs of today. The term piggy-back, however, came from the habit of first draping a pig skin over the back of the carrier and then another over the wounded Native American once he was on the other's back. This was believed to help keep the spirit inside the wounded's body, thus making him survive for longer. As it happens, the practice of surrounding the wounded man with pig skin actually did help them to survive for longer. The pig skin helped to keep them out of the often scorching sun, thus helping them to stay cool and therefore reduce water loss through sweating. Most Native American deaths were in fact due to dehydration, although it was usually brought on by something else, for instance injury. Thus, we can see how the termology "piggy-back" came about: "Piggy" is derivative of the pig skin, while "Back" is derivative from the fact that they were carried on the back. The termology "ride" is derived from later years when the "piggy-back" was adopted by the Pilgrims as a way of amusing children. The use of the pig skins was soon dropped, although the name stuck.
On a less historical note, Great photo.
