"They told us it would have been a simple mission... One that according to the higherups was a standard, by the book one. The mission was simple, surround, invade and capture a feline. That they wanted to send an entire squad for one cat?... It seemed and felt like such an odd thing. Something felt wrong from the moment we entered the building however.
Each footstep made us feel heavier then the one before. Our target was stationed on the fifth floor. The entire unit barged through the elevator as soon as it stopped. Moving into position and finally seeing the target we needed to apprehend... A simple ordinary feline we thought at first.
And afterwards, I wish it wasn't just a thought. For not a moment after we took our positions, the man stood up holding nothing but a sword.
Our weapons raised upwards to point at him. Myself using my own handgun as I aimed for the torso of the other. But then the unthinkable happened, the target opened his eyes and showed pure black eyes, nothing but an empty void was seen... And then?... Then he started to glow, sparks of purple energy began to dance across the floor before his entire body began to envellope in it.
It was then that I came to a realisation, This wouldn't be a routine job.

Squad guys: C&C Tiberium
The units armor are from the cancelled game Tiberium. Sadly EA pulled the plug on what would have been a splendid followup on the C&C Novel!
