As we've already covered, the Haqwe Effect is a subjective phenomenon. For a short period after the Haqwe Effect was first codified, hieromancers used it as a magical 'fingerprint' to link residual magical phenomenon and suspects in criminal cases with some success. However, the process was soon abandoned as it was quickly discovered that, as a subjective phenomenon, it could be consciously affected (This author wishes to note that society had been creating art in this way for decades by this point, so it should not have been a surprise to anyone) and made to mimic others. Another blow was dealt to the concept when theory met practice. Experiments showed that mana channeled to different disciplines of magic produced different Haqwe Effects, dependent on the mage's feelings and interpretations of each discipline.

Soon after Lord Grey II had achieved his Archmagehood, he had expressed some interest in picking up another discipline. Relatively young and ambitious; it was well known that no one without at least three archmagehoods would never even be considered for the position of Grandmaster. He had mastered the difficult discipline of ablationism, second only to magichronology in difficulty. How hard could it be?
He started researching the mental magics. The temptation was too much, and he experimented with his newfound knowledge, causing irreparable damage to another citizen's mind. Intentionally unleashed their worst terrors inside their mind... and unintentionally made it permanent, driving the man insane, a danger to himself and others.
The ambitious archmage was severely punished for the mistake. Since then, the mana Grey channeled for mental magic felt sick, miasmic and diseased, and he's sworn off learning any magic save his own, content with his mastery of ablation magic. He craves the power of mental magic, and misses it... but no longer trusts himself with that power. What could have been...
