Ok, so Easter is coming up in, like, a few hours. There could have been a couple things I could have done around "eggs" and such, but I settled on the thought of Spyro being on the mind and I remember....YEAH!
Ok, so back when Spyro wasn't "The One" or when he supposedly "grew double the size with a girlfriend while in a stasis field that would have prevented that anyway"....he was facing down Gnasty Gnorc (who's the mother that named that guy?), Ripto (some horned-dino-or-ugly-unicorn-gone-wrong dude), and the Sorceress (another dino,...thing).
For the first two, Spyro was mainly taking down the opposition. In the last one though...he had a sorta side-mission that was essentially the MAIN THING he had to do. Taking down Ms. Wand-shaker became more a thing on the "to-do-list".
That thing was retrieving a mountain-worth of dragon eggs that were stolen.
I remember playing this a long time ago and yes, I got every one, including the special ones and the last one. It was a fun task to do and considering Spyro wasn't alone in the effort, you'd finally see what his posse could do as well. To me, it was the best of the "original trio" of his starting adventures. Multiple characters, lost of worlds, lots to collect, the feeling of reward to both goal-reacher and looter alike!
Now, that's the "game" that was made. So how WAS it actually for Spyro in reality? Let's face it, the guy is barely twice the size and maybe not too much older. Actually, I think the only reason he was tasked in the first place was because he was small enough to fit through a dimensional hole.
So, finding these eggs is easy or difficult depending on how to get them. Once you do, they immediately hatch and are...teleported back to the Dragon Realms if I recall...
Now how's THAT? These kid-dragons probably have no idea what's going on, but then get freed by someone not too much bigger than them. When the full story's told, they might not believe it. Even further down the line, these little guys might start getting BIGGER than Spyro himself.
So...anyway, I was playing around with the Year of the Dragon holograms to see what would happen. Yeah, Spyro was in there at the time resting (or taking a nap, depending on how you want to see it). When he woke up, he was in Sunrise Spring surrounded by a couple of the dragons he'd saved.
Naturally...they have a couple questions or concerns with their once-savior....and that's JUST three out ONE-HUNDRED AND FIFTY ONE!

151 eggs ha. I replayed this game not even too long ago, maybe a few months, and thought the same thing.
This teenage (Or likely child) dragon is always the one saving everybody's rears! The big dragons get petrified and they have to be saved by the little guy! The babies get stolen and they get saved by someone whose barely older then them!
Still Year of the Dragon was one of the best Spyro games to that date. I would've liked a more evil-esque villain like Ripto and his goons, but the Sorceresses was challenging too.
Poor silly Spyro though. Looks like there were 152 baby dragons in the end.

Yeah, pales into comparison with like the 30 in that dumbed down one later on.
Don't forget he was also the "best they could get" when people wanted Ripto taken down hehe. Sure, ok, he did it, but still.
I think Ripto's theme was mainly to rule while the Sorceresses wanted immortality. While we see Ripto gain (and lose) stuff, the Sorceress basically has these eggs SCATTERED everywhere and doesn't exactly get anywhere close to immortal. Maybe she's waiting for the eggs to hatch...but then again, Spyro just walks up to them and they open. Kind of interesting when you think about it...
I know they came from eggs and all, so they were just-born apparently...but yeah, from the looks, Elliot (the blue one) seems correct heh. Not sure, but I think one of those kids actually could FLY around while Spyro can only glide. Either that kid's gifted or Spyro missed that class

Oh yea, I remember all those egg challanges that one had to do, especialy how controller-snappingly frustrating some were, like those speed tunnels you had to dodge all the way to the end, gah! Can't even count how many times I had to redo those...
Aww, don't worry Spyro, I'm sure after the change the kids will enjoy talking about your many advantures

Been awhile since I actually played the game, but yeah, there were some difficult ones.
Think I recall some of the skate part sections (a four-legged dragon on a skateboard? Wow...we can do everything heheh) were a little frustrating to get the hang of, but performing those tricks for a high score is awesome. The Gnasty Gnorc!
That's if they believe he's the real deal, and if they're not getting in their heads to change him themselves

Woah, 8 years late! But still, I gotta ask, how would these three actually manage to pin him down and change him? (That would be hilarious). If they managed to do that, they could make the claim that they are his babysitters, and there wouldn't be a whole lot he could do to refute that...
