This is the second gift piece I painted for the recipients that was themed on the luphin of my fantasy world. It was converted from a confrontation model. The conversion itself was rather simple, I do not like big unwieldy staves and such and replaced the staff head with a bit of gnarled wood sculpting.
The color white is associated by the luphin with the moon, old bones, and snow. These are all different aspects of mortality to them and thus the luphin who share it’s color are seen as scions of death. This is not wholly a grim affiliation however. The moon features prominently in the legends of the luphin as a gateway to the eternal world of the dreaming dead from the temporary gasp of a mortal world. Bones serve as a reminder of foes defeated, prey devoured, and fallen allies, the history of nature written in the only truly universal langaue respected by the luphin. The winters of the primeval forests cherished by the luphin goes through a continual season of change. The snow that comes with it is the death of the world and the heavy blankets of snow that come with it make life a cold and at times bitter struggle for survival reminding the luphin the humility of inevitability.
The model is meant to be another Lunar Seer, a kind of ally opposite of the earlier piece. The only thing I am not entirely satisfied (in regards of the paint job) was how the rich green of the flock did not quite convey the verdance I was after. Between the two, my favorite was the first.

Woh o_o freaking awesome model, the painting detail is great!
May I ask what company/brand you got this model from? I've never seen wolf models on this scale before =P Come to think of it, i've hardly ever seen any commercial anthro sculpture.
Will definitely be checking out your other work =D
