The original, 1973 version of The Wicker Man is one of my favourite movies. Like many fans of the original, I would dearly love to forget the abomination that was the 2006 “remake” with Nicholas Cage… (Oh, God! Not the bees!!!)
Apart from the most obvious references to the plot of the movie itself, there is also the notion that sooner or later, our basic instincts to kill one another always have to be sublimated in one form or another. Indeed, I’ve always contended that for all the talk about ‘inner peace’ and ‘the way and the light’, our true Gods of choice have always been Moloch and Mars.
Both of these deities are always hungry, and, of course, always demand human sacrifice…

However optimistic I am about the future, some tragedy (or as described here, conquering) always seems to offset my hopes for the world. Somehow, humanity's beast always resurfaces, however oppressed it is. This poem reminded me of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Third_Wave
Very tragic indeed. Mankind never learned to create, only to destroy. This reminds me the lyrics of this song : http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QbLMOAOoqvk It does not mean the same thing, but I can relate to it. You did a sad yet great job!
I really like the imagery. Confession-I've been obsessed with WWIII since I first watched 'The Day After' when I was a kid. There are times when I'll have dreams about nuclear war every night for a week. Maybe that's why most horror movies don't scare me. I know who the real monsters are. Sometimes I dream about pushing the buttons myself.
I guess that's why I try my best to always look on the bright side. Think the best of people. I'm convinced that's how it's going to end so I try my best to spread love in hopes I'm wrong.
I think this is my favorite poem of yours.

I'll be honest...this one feels like you caught something...I dunno. You connected with some kind of fundamental truth, and managed to manifest its purity of essence.
Not trying to sound pretentious or whatever. Those are just the words that came to me. It's not happy, it's not sad-it just is what it is. So it goes.
