Okay so not technically a commission, but rather, a gift for my dear friend 
Pachabel that also served as the convenient excuse for trying some techniques I've been guesstimating off of 
coyox's incredible work. I really love the sense of texture and thickness he manages to express in his digital stuff, and took a stab at imitating what bits of it I could figure out! These first iterations are a little clunky and heavyhanded (I couldn't help myself; it's too fun to screw around with), though all in all I'm REALLY digging on the thick impasto look it makes, so I'll probably be keeping it in my technique arsenal from now on. Hurrah, learning!

I love it o_o it looks like a traditional acrylic or oil piece that's been partially painted using a palette knife. And as always, I adore your creatures X3 and I'm always a fan of multiple eyes! You should check out the Langurhali species - I think it'd be right up your creative alley =D
