Here is the completed Hook Orchestral Medley!! YAY!!
Had an interesting conversation about top 3 movies. Me and about 4 others found out we are the same for our top two. Hook is #1 and The Fifth Element is #2. WHO DOES NOT LOVE THE MOVIE HOOK?! I have yet to find people personally who hate it. It takes childhood and brings it back.
Enjoy everyone!
I had trim some to even post the song... FA is anal about that 10MB limit.
I have Piano: ITS ME PLAYING IT!!!
I have Woodwinds: Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon
I have Brass: French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba
I have Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
I have Percussion: Glockenspiel, Timpani

Still like this one. Wish you had a better fade out at the end. Don't just pull the plug on meh!
But this was a really wonderful effort and a great tribute to one of my most favorite movie scores. Honestly my favorite musical moment, (though there are so many amazing parts) is when the little black lost boy examines and recognizes Peter... when that flute takes over my heart just melts away. I dont know if I would want to try to remake any of that part. It's already perfect lol.
but anyway, again, love that you did this. I think you could get some better string sounds going, as I discuss in your more recent post of the Beginning of the End... Many things on this playback... are "too clean" the volumes of each note are too precise. There needs to be a bit of randomizing done. If I were to guess I'd say this was playback generated by Finale that has static dynamics and velocities. This whole section is p. This whole section is f. These are all eighth notes, all the same speed all the same volume.
But that's just a matter of performance... as a matter of composition and arrangement I listen to this with the live orchestra in my head, and on those grounds this is really excellent. Not all of us have $2000 invested in each instrument for samples or have access to London Chamber Orchestras and Abbey Road *coughFOXcoughAmooreCough* But I digress.
Did I ever share this with you? Pogo Mix... this guy is a genius. A must see for Hook fans imo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65PiKsNhCsc
takes sounds from movies and samples them into remixes, with synced up video to match. so much fun to watch.
Bangarang is his Hook remix there... several others are nice too, especially "upular" based on the movie, "Up"
Upular has such a catchy tune.. love how you hear all the elements separate, then towards the end, all at once, perfectly layered, and the epic ending, with the young boy saying... "Wow!"
