The Woodland Imps help plants to flourish all year long and in the most uncharacteristic places. They could make tropical flora bloom on a wintery terrain if they desired it. Every plant they assist to bloom takes a part of their own life energy but many feel it is worth it as seeing their homes wither away in the colder months is both heartbreaking and not ideal for their livelihood.
I had a lot of fun doodling these, The top two are my favourites I think :'D I could probably make them more strange but I'd probably need a little more inspiration and ideas on ways to make them look strange but not so bizarre that it becomes a visual mess. The middle fellow could use a little work XD He looks a little too styled rather than looking like he just grew that way, if that makes sense XD
Although I guess there's nothing wrong with an Imp who wants to look fabulous...

Perhaps middle_imp traveled to cities or something, and saw a lot of the fashions there? (If there are settlements big enough to call cities in your world?) I could see him maybe thinkin', well, I'm dying, best look as fabulous as I can, ahahah -
I especially like top-right and downmost imp, however. The one top-right; that's kind of the best of nature, right there. Symbiosis doesn't have to be tragic, and though the eventual death of things can be - until that time, there is kind of a sweetness and beauty in the mutual aid the Woodland Imps have with the forest. I really like all of them, design-wise, however; they feel just the right blend of familiar and alien.
Stupid question, are they diminishing in the setting, or growing?

Yee there are cities cB Maybe he did ahaha~
I should write up all the stuff on my imps, but they are growing really, eventually they become immobile and just become part of the forest that makes up their homes, some travel to certain places to plant their roots, it can differ but yea :'D
I'm still working on them, but I think the fellow on the top right could be like, a more advanced in age fellow, just covered in growth, maybe eventually they become overgrown and need to plant their roots, I'm still thinking on how they would do their thing, I know where they're going but I haven't thought on how they get there yet XD

I've always loved the idea of stuff that kind of roots down for awhile - and know very well the feeling of 'aha, this is the destination, but uh, how to get there'. B) Ah, the creative process! Like all your creations, I'm kind of interested in their society in general, I guess? Okay, one last question - do they tend to be solitary, group into small groups..? :o
Hehehe yea it's a pain but it's a labour of love~
I think they would congregate into small groups a bit more than going solo, or even large groups depending on the forests they live in.
But yea, there would be some who go off by themselves. There's always an exception to the rule cB
