Well it burnt down in 1989, and restored, open again in 1995. Still lived in too, but bottom floor open to the public

A number of stately homes are still lived in, makes money for the owners for the upkeep

they are so lucky to have that much floor space to themselves. I'd rent some of those rooms out and just live in what I would need.
