One of the most elaborate of the military themed drawings I did in the mid-80's. At the time Jerry Collins and I were friends and doing riffs off each other. Later we had a falling out, and he objected to some of the art I had done so I altered some of it. I'm sure he would have preferred I burn it all, but there's only so much I'll do even for principle. What I could do, I did, as in this piece where I added wings to the spacecraft, altered the symbols on the fuselages, and replaced all the heads.

The Goblin was a parasite fighter for the Convair B-36. The Akron and Macon carried Curtiss F9C biplanes, which were prop jobs, as RosenOtter said.
Sorry, I'm a parasite geek. XD My favorite parasite success story is probably the D21 Tagboard/Senior Bowl parasite drone program.

I'd heard that those SR-71 drones weren't very successful, but didn't know any of the details. I had the impression that it just didn't navigate well on its own, or return much useful information. The "Blackbird" at the Boeing museum in Everett WA has a drone mounted.
I don't think anyone doubts that JC had emotional problems that were at the root of his inabillity to get along with most people.
There were a few people who did avoid having a falling out with JC, but in at least two occasions it seems that they were deliberatel manipulating him for their own ends.

Not that I'm heavily interested, but does anyone even know if he's still around? I don't seem to be on any of his sides myself, so I should care, really. I do, however, regret his desperate slide into oblivion, having followed his work over the years and having some admiration for his vision and style, if not his decaying personality.
Jerry certainly isn't attending conventions and he wasn't contributing to zines a few years ago. I don't know of anywhere he's on-line.
The last I saw of him were a few rancourous pictures and remarks on *Crush, Yiff, Destroy" in which he attacked Steve Martin and some other people, and ran down furry fandom, saying his problems were all fandom's fault. If he hadn't been corrupted he would have been as pure and innocent as a mountain stream. Yeah... right...
In any case, even that stuff is several years old. I think the only person who would likely have any idea what JC was up to these days would be Michael Hirtes, who seems to feel he's Jerry's protector.
