My interpretation of a manticore. She eats dreams and transports souls from the physical plane to the afterlife. She's a creature of fear. If she could talk, she'd be very fucking sassy.

thanks! Mostly nightmares. She actually preys on adults rather than children. Their fear is more potent and real. Sometimes she would wake her victim up to scare them and disappear so that they would create more bad dreams. about the tail: no, its mostly for show. She's a creature between planes and everything about her is to invoke fear to eat nightmares. She's almost like an aimless poltergeist with a rather rude and vain personality. Also she sort of works for Death.
That's a very nice twist - it's unusual to write an entity that specifically preys on adults. I think the idea of scaring children as a ploy to scare the audience is sometimes over done, and can feel hollow without proper build-up. An entity that stalks the planes between planes just looking to scare us though, that's something that could be very interesting indeed... Also probably terrifying if I met her myself, but then again. Rude, vain, has a rather mortifying employer..? Maybe we'd be firm friends!*

you'd have to be cool enough to get to know her. you certainly couldn't be human. She's quite scary in that she's almost human in her face but not quite. she's got 5 fingers and 2 thumbs on her forelegs that are connected to big leathery wings, leading into a black panther back half that ends in a scorpion tail. She's just all the things that frighten people. She's all bark but no bite.
