The image is a scaled down graph of the number of submissions uploaded to FA daily. From left to right, each vertical line represents a single day starting from the date of the first submission on FA, December 5th, 2005.
Each pixel on that vertical line represents a submission. The colors stand for submission maturity rating, with grey representing a submission that has been deleted (holes in submission ID continuum).
Image height is capped at 1000 pixels with vertical lines scaled accordingly, so it can not be considered accurate statistics. Raw map with one-pixel-per-submission can be found at the following link
In my previous map I estimated the growth of submissions/day number to be parabolic. This proved not to be the case, with the growth looking to be pretty linear. This is a good thing as it allows for pretty straightforward capacity planning for the future.

I see those huge spikes of submissions directly after downtimes of 50% to sometimes 200% increase from the normal trajectory.
Since, I don't remember many if any times that the old browser timed out directly after, it means that the team has prepared for an overload of content.
Also it says that the user base has a yearning to be here. I don't know if it's really any valid points or

sorry for the comment on such an old post, but ive always thought these charts were super cool, and the talk lately of the file size of FA's storage (and peoples' jokes about adult content) had me wondering; would it be possible to make an updated one of these? or would that just be way too much to put into this kind of format at this point?
