It was a Narnian advent calendar, showing Christmas being celebrated in Narnia. When you opened the 24th door, Aslan appeared.

Hmmmmm. If it's a Narnian gryphon it isn't QUITE right -- Narnian gryphs didn't have the classic leonine tailtuft, they had feather-fans on the ends of their tails, and were somewhat more fluffy on the front then traditional gryphons.

But I still liked it quite a bit. :)

Very nice gryphon!Wasn't there one also in "Alice in Wonderland"?I remember seeing one in the Betty Boop cartoon of Alice,playing dice with the mock turtle.

Funny you should mention the AiW gryphon, because this weekend I plant to put up an illo I did of him, attempting to comfort the Mock Turtle. He looks a bit different from the one posted above.

Yes, I guess you could say that Gryphs are my favorite mythological beastie.

That's a flight harness. The wings mostly cover it up in the illo, but he's got a sort of saddle on his back.
