*Shrug* I write for the enjoyment.
So what if your not commisioned? So what if only four people see your story in the course of three weeks? It's fun, that's what is important.
I know how you feel though, I really do.

And i got the feeling you were feeling you were turning out easy-to-make cheep storys.
The visual art section is choked with cheep stuff...

A lot of my fan fiction is kind of cheap, especially that written in response to specific works of art. Most of my originals got more thought into it. And then there's the Basalt City Chronicles, which will e a full novel...

I enjoy writing too. But often I see certain groups of artists that I admire as kind of a tight-knit group (like the 3C1M group and Dan The Bear's family), and I find myself on the outside looking in and wishing I could be part of something like that.

I know what you're saying, but different arts have different dynamics, try looking for a writer community on LJ or something, I think there are a few.

But you are, in a way. Gene and I love the works you write ^_^

You do have superior skill as a writer. It isn't your fault that art archives are primarily for visual works. In the real world, good authors get pad a lot more than artists <=)

CW poked me toward the post (I didn't think you had anything in your Scraps directory) and would like to note: About the 3C1M group, we've been friends for years before FA came along. It took a long time before we were that tight-knit a group. Not meant to make anyone feel excluded. Just a lot of really personal things within our circle of freinds (you'd kins have to have been within it to understand). <=)

I understand where you're coming from. This will NOT be the last "Author, Author", and the second will point out a lot of what in the fandom has made ME happy.

No, I do not begrudge you a tight circle of friends at all; I am in fact very happy for you four. :)

*Gives the lynx a tight hug* I really think you sell yourself short. As an "artist" (and yes i put that in quotes, i don't see myself as an artist...) i WISH i could write well. It'd make getting the million-and-one ideas swirling around my brain easier to get out. Also, when i draw an image; thats the image people get. When you write a story; people can create their own inner images. I also think stories inspire art as much as art inspires stories. I know the popular phrase is "A picture paints a thousand words", but those thousand words could spawn a thousand pictures, depending on how each artist interpreted them.

As for the "on the outside looking in" thing...i know how you feel, sadly. All i can suggest is trying to forge a group of your own. I actually might have something about that to discuss with you later, but i'd need to consult someone else first to make sure. :)
