Over the past few years I have not suited much and even less since moving to sydney. The fursuiter circle down here very rarely often aligns with my circle of friends and on the rare occasion where the opportunity arises... I'm often at work.
This year I attended mardigras and not only did I suit but I marched in the parade in suit. Pre-parade we were fortunate to hang out with a bunch of kids whom had attended to support their gay parents, brother sisters and uncles. Drake kept them well into the night with some silly games, like a game of the hokey pokey happening in this picture. We had met them out of suit on the train and this little girl was there with her elderly grandma and brothers and sisters in support of their gay uncle/son.
It is truly a moving moment to see so many young people growing up in this world without hatred or prejudice in their hearts and it was my pleasure to play games and make them laugh.
This picture is bitter sweet for me, it's such a touching and happy photo... but very solemn as it may very well the last time I had ever worn drake. During the parade a very drunk and over-excited individual punched me; breaking drake's jaw and the internal mesh structure in the head and after the parade I (foolishly) did not air the head out in time which led to mold taking to the white horns/spines and foam head. At this stage both have proven irreparable, to a point I could not even wear him at FurDU.
Oz is doing all he can to salvage the suit, but it is what it is.
