Wow, you really hit it right on the head there! That is in fact the unofficial theme of their species; an awkward, newly-sentient evolutionary branch that isn't quite here and isn't quite there yet.
To anyone doubting nature's schizophrenic ways, just ask yourself: is this actually a comfortable way to sit? http://cdn1.arkive.org/media/7E/7E2.....lt-sitting.jpg

Is that Kass in the bottom-middle? The one to the right of the top-left looks like an adventurer! That full-color one in the top left looks interesting, almost matronly? and hasn't a front tooth!? The bottom-left one looks like an immature female, perhaps the charge of the matronly one? Anyways, altogether quite interesting!
Thanks for sharing; I was wondering what people were thinking about these designs! These are mostly pre-production designs to help me flesh out the yinglets' designs (proportions, etc), so they vary a bit. The only "finished" one would probably be Lopin on the bottom right, and even he had a few minor changes before being put in the comic.
The only other established character in this sheet is at the top left; the very first yinglet I drew, which is Kass, post-transformation. (Finally I can say that without it being a spoiler.)
