Totally 80s fox cookies!
Got that cute fox cutter from IKEA a few years back, finally made something great with it.
Kool-aid sugar cookie recipe (I used Tropical Punch flavor): http://www.thehungrywife.com/pies-a.....sugar-cookies/
Royal icing (I used neon food colors): http://www.marthastewart.com/316888.....-sugar-cookies
Rainbow Nerds for sprinkles, tangy crunchy and perfect!
My submission for the BLFC conbook, since they're allowing recipes which is super neat.
Kool Aid Sugar Cookies
¾ cup shortening
1 stick unsalted butter or margarine, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1 cup pre-sweetened Kool-Aid, your favorite flavor
2 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon salt
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
Cream shortening, butter, sugar, and Kool-Aid together with a mixer. Add eggs, combine well. In a separate bowl, sift together remaining ingredients and add carefully to sugar mixture. Mix well. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Roll dough carefully to ¼ inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 375° for 7-10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. Cool on a wire rack, and enjoy the delicious flavored sugar cookies!
Royal Icing
1 box confectioners' sugar (1 pound)
5 tablespoons meringue powder or 2 large egg whites
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine sugar and meringue powder. Mixing on low speed, add a scant 1/2 cup water. For a thinner consistency, usually used for flooding, add more water. A thicker consistency is generally used for outlining and adding details. Mix until icing holds a ribbon-like trail on the surface of the mixture for 5 seconds when you raise the paddle.
Allergy warning – please read all recipes carefully and be aware of any allergies or sensitivities that may effect your health and well-being
Kool Aid is an artificially flavoured and coloured cordial, but in powdered form.
Kool Aid is rare to find in Australia and the nearest equal this powdered drink would be colourless but flavoured drink called Tang. Other countries probably have something similar.
