Here I got them to hold still enough to get a "couples" picture. The male was rather pooped out, but the female was still very active. They're so pretty in the sunset!

Have you ever seen the birdwing Butterfly?! ITS HUGE. I love love LOVE both butterflies and moths. Truthfully moths usually freak me out because they fly so fast and I have a pretty wicked fear of small flying things(traumatic flying cockroach incident when I was a kid )x ) but I have always loves staring at them when they are holding still. these fellows where so chill, I couldn't help myself. Truly these are underrated insects <3
They were super sluggish. I think it was largely because I found them during the daytime. Realy I just had to gently scoop me up and they didn't put up any sort of fight. It was a rare and spectacular treat. I would've played with them for hours if I wasn't afraid I'd hurt them or a bird would see. They had been well hidden till I came along :p
I was able to save some adults of these and Cecropias for my personal collection. Where I am in Colorado, they wouldn't have found mates, so release would have resulted in a death without mating. :(
They're wonderful and sluggish after some baby makin'! Lucky! I've yet to come across silk moths in the wild, but rather frequently come across sphinx moths.
