Back when I was conceptualizing the different species that would appear in the world with the Vulazulas (my own made up race) I of course drew up some doodles of these critters do random stuff. Most are in a non-presentable state. This one however was one of the few that was fairly well sketched out and I even quite liked the idea. So I quickly splashed some color on it and here's the result.
Sataru, the species of the character here, are known to be a tad hard-to-approach at times due to their heated nature. This doesn't apply to everyone their also the some who can be rather friendly. Here we have one who has cozied up to the "viewer" and is just getting relaxed.
Trying out a more muted coloring style, lowering the use of highlights and cast lighting. Also not completely polished due to the quickness of the painting.
