WHEN WAS THIS DOLL MADE?
I'm not sure about the exact production date, but earlier in the month that my order was placed, which was on 27th March 2013.
WAS THIS DOLL A PROTOTYPE?
No.
COMMUNICATION
Communication was never an issue and I had some questions about shipping and some concerns about international shipping, which were addressed very promptly and professionally. Mostly I had a little issue with the shipping destination, but it all worked out in the end, and the artist I spoke to was very helpful in reassuring me the correct address was with them. I was notified when the item was shipped. I do know that they offer tracking for orders placed through their new website.
DID THEY MEET YOUR DEADLINE?
Not really applicable in a production sense, but the order arrived pretty speedily!
HOW WAS THE ART DOLL PACKAGED?
I was pretty concerned about this, since customs handlers where I live are not exactly the gentle type, but I didn't have to worry. The only 'fragile' parts were the head and face, which were wrapped up against blunt force, the body and fur were sheathed in plastic, and the entire doll was packed in a bubble-wrap lined envelope that withstood the jarring bumps and forces of shipping, making it all the way from the US across the Atlantic to the Middle East without any damage whatsoever.
DID YOUR DOLL ARRIVE IN ONE PIECE?
He arrived in one piece, all shiny and new!
WAS YOUR DOLL SEWN?
He has a sewn body with faux fur with a hard cast head. I'm not sure how the head fits against the furry body.
IS YOUR DOLL FLOPPY STYLE OR ARTICULATED?
He has a ball and socket armature and I was pretty surprised at how well it moved. I can pose him in so many different ways and never feel like the insides or his outer construction is too flimsy. I've wrapped him around quite a few things and never felt like anything was too loose or jiggly with his inner or outer workings.
STABILITY, IS YOUR DOLL STABLE?
Not sure if this is applicable to my boy since he's a snake-shape without cast hands or feet, but insofar as posing him he has been stable and has stayed put where I've wrapped him on stuff.
DOLL DETAIL
Amazing paint job, it was one of the reasons I jumped on the order button. Firstly his head was cast from some sort of translucenty material, so it kind of looks like a jelly pop, the pic doesn't do the effect justice really. His paint job and hard sculpted head were so smooth and were really full of detail, even down to the furry face and small painted canines, very well-sculpted. He's so spectacularly vibrant in the sunlight.
FABRIC DETAILING
His body is done in a two-tone theme, with shorter pile faux fur for the underside, a longer pile faux fur for his sides and a stripe of pink long fur down his back with two little felt wings detailed with stitching.
MATERIALS
He feels very well-made, I haven't had any of the fur come loose, or his wings, no unsewn seams or splitting anywhere.
WOULD YOU BUY FROM AGAIN OR RECOMMEND?
Definitely plan on buying again when I have extra money to spend, and I have recommended them to others before and will continue to do so!
FINAL SCORE:
5/5
