I find electronic music very interesting. It's really like a whole different language compared to the old-school style of physical instruments and whatnot. And the cool thing about electronic music is that, theoretically, any sound can be created. And because of this, a lot of electronic music emulates the sound of real instruments, while other types use different levels of noise to make a unique sound experience.
For this string quartet, I took this process in reverse. Instead of trying to synthesize a wave that sounds like an instrument, I took instruments and tried to emulate electronic noise soundscapes with them. In addition, I combined this with classical style architectures: contrapuntal melodies, a variety of different modes and scalar patterns, thematic integration, etc etc. The second movement was also inspired by modern day rock and metal, using different riffs and grooves.

This is awesome, dude. I agree that electronic music is interesting in its own rite; and the way I think of it is that electronic is a technical way of expressing yourself through sound, while live instrumentation is a natural way. People often bash electronic music and musicians, like Skrillex, but they're comparing it to a different type of music with a different type of standards and it's like judging a mathematician on his grade in English ...
Yada yada though ... I'm rambling too much about off topic shit. I thought you did an awesome job here. The orchestration is amazing. Gotta check out some of your other work now.

Wow. Very nice work, and amazing idea behind it! I would be one of those musicians who emulates the sound of real instruments, albeit in a deliberately unconvincing way that was reminiscent of earlier technology (the 80s), and it's certainly nice that you chose to invert the idea in music and sound design. Some parts certainly do have that avant-garde sound reminiscent of many electronic soundtracks, from Forbidden Planet to Halloween.
