it took me a while to get all the materials together, But Ive finally got to working on the ballistic collar for this vest. As you can see, the attachment points aren't quite finished yet, But the overall shape is there now, I just need to add a front flap and trim off the extra material from the back flap. Right now its being held on with some temporarily placed velcro strips.
The next step after this is to create the shoulder pads. As of right now, Im thinking of making pads styled after the U.S. PASGT vest, which are semi-triangular with rounded edges. I also have to think of what type of fastening system I want to use for pouches on the empty left side of the vest. Its a toss up between MSA Paraclete style, and normal MOLLE. Of course, If I decided to go a non-destructive route, I could just sew some strips of velcro to the front, which seems like a viable option.
Oh, and the bias tape i used for the edges on the collar isnt actually darker then that on the vest. Its just slightly shinier. I tried to match it as close as possible, And in person, its basically identical.
