Perhaps an exercise wheel or some toys might help. Does he have a hide box in his cage? A variety of vegetable table scraps from every meal would probably cheer him up too. Very fine photo. How far was the camera from him?

oh he gets his exercise... he has this stuffed rabbit... he humps her every chance he gets... and we let him run around the house... and dig all he wants in my greenhouse... and he even has a tube that he runs through at mighty speeds... And... he gets atleast 1 cup of fresh veggies a day... most from the veggie garden in the greenhouse... but he sometimes gets a variety from our fridge too... and the farmers market.... he's usually quite happy... I just thought it fitting for this pic... he gets lonely when we're not around... when we are around he's the happiest damn thing ever... and I was fairly close... the camera was right against the bars of the cage... you can even see part of me in the left side of his eye.

That rabbit has a vastly better life than a wild one, the vast majority of which are coyote, hawk, and eagle food before their first birthday.

Alex just had his first birthday yesterday... he got a little bunny cake... served on a lectuc leaf... there was a craker with peanut butter spread on it... then covered in finely grated carrot topped with the greens from a strawberrty and a small slice of the berry... it was gone in like... 2 minutes.
