I love horseshoe crabs, I remember I found some lives ones at the beach once, and was playing with them. They don't have like, pinsers thet really hurt, which makes them all the more great and cuddly, cause they more tickle than hurt. <3

They're awesome. They have no pincers because they are not actually crabs at all! If I'm not mistaken they're more closely related to trilobites.

Hehhe, Yeah, I know, which is why I LOVE them, as a kid used to want to be a paleontologist and I had a bunch of little trilobite fossils. ^_^

On a side note I like horseshoe crabs too, as they are adorable creatures that actually do not seem to desire any harmful intent towards humans, and some of them can be quite curious and playful, though they are rare here at New Jersey.

I love horseshoe crabs so much ;.; They're one of the most ancient survivors on our planet! I think they should be protected. Plus they're cute. I saw a little baby one in an aquarium once about the size of a hand that was swimming on the surface of its talk upside-down, using its book gills to propel itself. (It looked like it was rowing itself.) I couldn't figure out why it was swimming upside-down, but it was extremely charming.

Huh, go figure. I was talking to a friend the other day about exactly this - this is one creature that I didn't think anyone would be able to anthromorphise! And yet, here it is... I was on holiday in the US recently and came across one of these on the beach and took some pics of it. Here is one:

I agree... Seems that nature and evolution are in harmony with this critter - as you say it hasn't changed much in many millions of years. And they just look so cool You've got an eye (and talent) for the unusual.

It's great to see people draw anthros of something not so cuddly, like insects and crustation and such. Nice work.

this is so cute! I do research in Tampa Florida on the horseshoe crabs here. A lot of people are weirded out or scared of them and think their tails are stingers, so they just stomp on them when they come on shore to lay the eggs. Would it be possible to share this picture? Seeing such a cute and non-scary version of a horseshoe crab would really help their pr. People don't realize that their blood is used in hospitals to text for toxins and for bacteria. Plus they are doing research where they believe that the horseshoe crabs nervous system and the way they see MIGHT help restore some sight to people who are blind :)
