One of two of my FBA submissions this year
Height: 6' 10"
Weight: 235 lbs
Species: Leopard Gecko
Backstory:
The O'Rourke family, the epitome of old money and old of the most powerful families in Scotland. To hear them tell, they'd point out that they have produced some of the greatest lawyers, scientists, and great minds of the country's recent history. However, if you asked about the latest of the O'Rourke, they'd comment that he ran a good business and then politely move on.
Emil O'Rourke is the youngest son of the current generation of O'Rourke children. Unlike his siblings however, he saw no appeal in being a "great mind" and found that there were other challenges that better fit his interests. Foregoing the private tutors, he attended the local middle school, where he joined his first basketball team. For young Emil, basketball was the one game that he found needed the finesse, power, and drive that he couldn't resist. He played every chance he got, playing on school teams all the way through middle and high school. He graduated and had enough family money to easily attend any university in the country. However, he spent it instead on a rundown store, which he converted into a record store. Catering to collectors, he earned himself a decent following, and was able to pay his own way through college.
Avoiding the Ivy leagues that his sibling bragged about, he went to a local college, majoring in Music history as he continued pursuing his basketball career. He spent the summers traveling cross country. On the road he'd join in on street games and games at the local sports centers; whatever he could manage. It was hard at times though as the O'Rourke name followed him like a rain cloud, making it near impossible for him to travel without a photographer hot on his heels. This was especially true at home, where the O'Rourke name was known to most everyone and the local paparazzi practically lived off the family's name. He sought refuge in the game that he loved and helped the Aberdeen team achieve their first consecutive championship win.
One month later, he sold his store and every single record within and set off for America without a word to anyone. He settled down in Baltimore and submitted his name to FBA, hoping to carve his own legacy without his family's help.
