Last of my May Flowers themed portrait commissions! This one for ForrestTail
Thank you so much for commissioning me and for your patience ahhhh
If you are interested in these types of commissions--I expect to be opening up another auction for them sometime between the 12th and 24th.... Possibly two, if there is enough time/availability for me to work on them.
Please keep an eye on my journals around those times! :)
Thank you so much for all the support and interest in these! <3

Hmmm well mostly how I work is, I do the initial sketch, then I try to work out a color scheme. It would look bad with a green and purple character and something like orange and blue, for example. I think w/ this one I used a sorta light pinkish purple as my base color to fill the canvas. Then I used a good painting tool and just roughly colored in the flats right on the base layer. I really like when colors interact like that, cuz it pulls it together and makes it less flat!
I use a lot of overlays, as well... And then, before I merge and start painting it, I make a new layer and sorta... tint? Areas? An example is the sorta purplish tint at the bottom left corner of the jacket. I use the marker tool on SAI and just lightly apply tinting around the canvas. I pull colors already in the drawing to do this--so I might tint the greens w/ a little pink or purple, and vice versa, etc.
At that point, I just merge it all and use the colors already on the canvas to shade and blend and make it clean and pretty. : )
AHHH I hope that answered your question alright!

um as in a make a new layer and set it to the blend mode overlay, and then just... use a nice tinting tool--I use the water tool for applying overlays. w/ around 50% opacity and color blending. I like to use it to add sorta like... warmer/lighter tones (almost like extra lighting?) to light sources and cooler tones for a little extra shading. The yellowish areas on the hair, goggles, and scarf were created with overlays. Also the background was originally a sorta pinkish color, but w/ light yellow and blue overlays I made it more glowy.
